The journey to a big dream
Our sponsored rider 24 year old Konstantin Harting is an up-and-coming young eventer from Germany who has been a European Cup Champions Team Member and an Individual Medallist in the German Youth Championships. He has two very special mares, CASPARA and BOTSWANA with whom he had a very successful 2025. We caught up with Konstantin to hear his top tips for planning your eventing season.
How Konstantin plans his Event Season
- After the old season finishes and my horses have had a good break, I analyse my Eventing season and see how the horses and my riding has developed. I can then see where I want to improve over the winter, ahead of the upcoming year.
- I then start to think about possible competition goals for each horse. With the news that my horses both got selected for the German U25 Development Squad, my aim is to qualify for new World U25 Young Rider Championships at Millstreet.
- After that its all about a journey to a big dream: I look at the calendar, talk to people and think about competitions that make sense for me and my individual horses.
- It's important to take into account every detail that might affect your planning also in professional and private life - I work in the team of the FEI World Championships Aachen 2026 which is hugely exciting and obviously has some effect on plans as well.
- For me the most important thing is to always listen to your horse and adjust the journey when needed. It's important to have goals and make a good plan but sometimes it's best to change those plans.
